Ok Ok Sarah Kay, I’m making lists

Everyone’s been talking about “If I should have a daughter,” this speech given by Sarah Kay on TED. I’ve seen it twice and both times I’ve wanted to go write something afterwards. After the first time I got caught up in something else but this time I made sure I actually followed through with the inspiration she has given me.

She says she sometimes had to trick teenagers into writing poetry by getting them to write lists. Well I took her first idea and wrote this list “10 Things I Know to be True” Before you read my list, WRITE YOUR OWN FIRST and see if

a) any of your points are exactly the same as mine

b) any of your points are the opposite of mine

c) any of my points are about something you’ve never heard of

d) any of either of our points present one idea from two different angles.

ok so here goes

10 Things I Know to be True

I’m excited for school

I lost listening to music

Walking is good exercise and it’s fun

Carpe Diem!

Speak up, always!

Respect is important

Debate can be fun if everyone remember that it’s just a discussion not a personal attack

I miss Germany

I don’t know how this will turn into a poem

I miss my friends, family and puppy already and I’m still in town
